Oh, to be Obama

Apparently a great deal is being made about the fact that Obama gave a handwritten note to a ten year old girl excusing her from school after she came to a town hall meeting he was throwing in Wisconsin. Obama came down from the podium to hand deliver the note after her father asked him question on health care and explained his daughter’s situation. Here’s the link:

Remember when Obama screwed up on Jay Leno and compared his bowling skills to that of a participant in the Special Olympics? As soon as the show was finished taping he called the head of the Special Olympics Committee to apologize. The night after the show aired, the head of the committee was on Good Morning America to forgive Obama and tell us about what a polite gentleman he was.

I would like to be able to call the head of an organization after I said something politically incorrect and have them appreciate my apology. I would like to be able to write random people on the street notes excusing them from school. I could make the world a much more exciting place. I would write notes left, right, and centre. I would apologize to everyone, even if I hadn’t said anything offensive. The world would be a very happy place.
